Maria Menounos
Maria found out she was facing an illness of her own as she was caring for her mother suffering from Stage 4 brain tumors. In February 2014 Menounos started experiencing troubling symptoms. In the exclusive cover story of PEOPLE Menounos, she reveals she had been experiencing headaches and lightheadedness while on set. "My speech had become slow and I was experiencing difficulty understanding the Teleprompter". Menounos was diagnosed with a large meningioma brain tumor. A MRI confirmed this. Menounos made an appointment with her mother's doctor, renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Keith L. Black to schedule surgery on June 8, her 39th birthday. Dr. Black said it was 98 percent benign. But, we won't know that until they get there. In the arduous surgery that took about seven hours the surgeon Dr. Black was able to remove 99.9 percentage of tumor. It was benign. The doctor. Black claimed that it's likely to have the tumor come back in six-to seven percent of cases. It's a good thing I can take these odds any day. Menounos has been home since a six-day stay in hospital. She's currently recovering and enjoying her time with Litsa as well as her mother. Litsa's last MRI confirms that she is unaffected by cancer.
